Pune: Amazon has recently entered the chatbot competition by introducing its own AI assistant, Amazon Q. Meanwhile, other tech giants such as OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft have already established their chatbots, namely ChatGPT, Bard, and Copilots, respectively.

Amazon Q, an AI-powered chatbot created by Amazon’s cloud computing division, is specifically designed for workplace environments and is not meant for consumer use. Its primary objective is to assist employees in their day-to-day responsibilities, such as condensing strategy documents, completing internal support tickets and providing information on company policies. In the realm of corporate chatbots, Amazon Q will face competition from other similar platforms like Copilot, Google’s Duet AI, and ChatGPT Enterprise.

As per the information provided, Q has the capability to serve as a professional companion for countless individuals in their professional endeavours. Amazon has been actively working to dispel the notion that it is falling behind in the field of artificial intelligence. Over the past year, various companies including Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI have joined the race by introducing their chatbots and making substantial investments in A.I. advancement.

Amazon had been relatively reserved regarding its A.I. strategies until recently. In September, the company disclosed its intention to invest as much as $4 billion in Anthropic, an A.I. startup that rivals OpenAI, and collaborate on the development of cutting-edge computing chips. Additionally, Amazon launched a platform this year that enables clients to utilize various A.I. systems.

Amazon, being the top cloud computing provider, has already gained the trust of numerous business clients who store massive amounts of data on its cloud servers. According to Selipsky, companies have expressed their interest in utilizing chatbots in their workplaces, but they are cautious about the protection of their corporate data and privacy. He added that some companies have even prohibited the use of A.I. assistants in their enterprise due to these concerns.

As per the information provided, Amazon has designed Q to prioritize security and privacy over a regular consumer chatbot. For instance, Amazon Q can adopt the security permissions that business customers have already established for their users. This means that if an employee in the marketing department does not have authorization to access sensitive financial forecasts, Q will not provide them with that information when requested.
