Caregiver Sedates 68 Year Old Garment Trader From Thergaon, Loots Valuables Worth Rs 6 Lakh

The caregiver of a 68-year-old garment trader from Thergaon has been charged with allegedly sedating him and stealing gold jewelry, cash, and a credit card worth a total of Rs 6.41 lakh from his apartment on Wednesday. The elderly man, who was alone during the incident, reported the theft to the Wakad police on Thursday. The suspect, who also served as his driver, faces charges under sections 123 (causing harm using poison with the intent to commit a crime) and 306 (theft by a clerk or servant of property belonging to the master) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Wakad police sub-inspector Venkat Pote mentioned that the suspect had been employed by the victim for the past eight years. “Aside from the suspect’s name, the complainant did not have any other details about him,” official stated.
As per the victim’s account, “He provided the complainant with his daily medications for diabetes and blood pressure. After that, the victim lost consciousness,” official stated. Upon regaining consciousness, he discovered that his gold bracelet, chain, and diamond pendant were gone. “Additionally, Rs 6,000, his car keys, registration book, and credit card were also missing,” he continued.
Further investigation in the case is ongoing.
