Citizens initiate petition urging to improve Pune Metro Connectivity : demands increase in feeder buses and two-wheeler parking

Ganesh Bora, Environment Activist at Rotary Club of Walhekarwadi has started a petition “Improve Pune Metro Connectivity: Increase Feeder Buses and Two-Wheeler Parking.”
This petition has come into existence to utilize Pune Metro at it’s best. According to Bora, as an activist and a citizen his main aim is to create end-to-end connectivity and to give slots for vehicle parking.
The main issues which are to be tackled are lack of connectivity, lack of parking and even if there are a few places to park vehicles, it is unsafe as they don’t have enough security. Keeping all these things in mind this petition has come into existence.
Amol Deshpande, Pune Metro Pravasi group, mentioned that Feeder buses provided by PCMC run at the frequency of an hour rather than 10-15 minutes. “One should have an integrated transport experience and improve connectivity” stated Deshpande.”
Bora moreover stated that buses can be used more proficiently and can be used to promote metro. Buses are straight from Nigdi to Pune, what can be done instead is that buses can be sent from Nigdi to Pimpri and people can take metro from there whereas these buses can continue the same for other passangers.
This way both buses and metro will be utilized properly. Citizens should utilize Public transportation to its fullest. Use of Shared-rickshaws, PMPL buses should be promoted more both to increase metro transportation and to decrease traffic in Pune City.
Considering the increasing population in Pune, Increase in Feeder buses and vehicle parking near metro station will make Pune efficient in transportation and will also help to make metro a huge success in Pune city.
