Residents residing along Dehu-Alandi Road have lodged fervent complaints about the consistent contamination of their water supply, imploring authorities to rectify the dire situation that has persisted over an extended period.

According to Sanjeevan Sangale, President of the Chikhali-Moshi-Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Society Federation, multiple societies in the vicinity—including Abhang Vishwa Phase-1, Abhang Vishwa Phase-2, Mira Orchid, Bhagirathi Gloria, and Gaware Angan—have been grappling with severe health issues like diarrhea, vomiting, particularly affecting children, women, and the elderly. This distressing health predicament arises from the intermingling of drainage water with the drinking water supply, as the drainage line coincides with the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s water conduit.

Despite reporting this alarming concern to the drainage department, no concrete measures have been undertaken to address the issue. The unfortunate mismanagement on the part of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has rendered the health of around 4000 residents in this vicinity profoundly compromised.

The Chikhali-Moshi-Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Society Federation has fervently appealed for a swift and effective resolution to the water contamination crisis, emphasizing the urgent need to prevent drainage water from infiltrating the drinking water supply. Until a viable solution is implemented, the Federation implores the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to promptly deliver clean water to the affected societies via water tankers, thereby safeguarding the well-being of the local populace.

For the past fifteen days, the societies situated along Dehu-Alandi Road in Chikhali have been grappling with the distressing consequences of receiving tainted water.

Consequently, if immediate action is not taken to provide clean and safe water to the residents by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, the same contaminated water will be presented to the officials of the Municipal Corporation’s water supply department for their assessment.

Despite attempts, Pune Pulse was unable to establish communication with the head of the PCMC water supply division.
