Dasara is a time for joy and happiness. Prof G.S.Mani and family at Konark Indrayu Enclave I, NIBM area celebrate Dasara by arranging dolls in their house and inviting friends and relatives. Also, they like to use this time to spread a message relevant to the times. They have been doing this for more than five decades, ever since they got married and set up their family. When they were young, their children use to join them in arranging the ‘Kolu’. But now, when children have settled down at far-away places, the couple enjoy keeping up the tradition and sharing the joy with friends.

This year, the message they want to spread is – Life is a happy marathon. Let us enjoy participating in this marathon. “Lord Krishna, Jesus Christ, and Saibaba are from different times, but they were trying to spread the message of Love and happiness. A Race is run mostly in a competitive spirit, whereas Marathon is run mostly in a participative spirit. And, this participative sprit spreads the message of love and happiness. Let us make our life not a 100-meter dash, but a long marathon”, says Prof G.S. Mani.

Sathya, his wife adds, “Recently, my 45-year-old daughter-in-law participated in Ladakh Marathon at a height of 11,000 feet. Obviously, she was not hoping to win a gold medal, but her participation gave great joy not only to her, but also to all of us. That gave us the impetus for this year’s Dasara message”.
