Experience Meets Youth: Prachi Ashish Alhat Eyes Return To PMC From Mahmadwadi–Undri
Prachi Ashish Alhat, Pune’s youngest former corporator, continues to be a prominent and recognisable face in the city’s civic and political landscape. Having represented Ward No. 26 (Mahmadwadi–NIBM) in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Alhat built her political journey on early leadership, grassroots engagement, and active participation in municipal governance.
Elected in the 2017 PMC elections, Alhat created history by becoming the youngest corporator in Pune. Her five-year tenure from 2017 to 2022 was marked by involvement in key decision-making bodies of the civic administration at a time when Pune was witnessing rapid urban expansion and growing infrastructure demands.
During her term, Alhat served on several important PMC committees. As a member of the Education Committee, she contributed to discussions aimed at strengthening municipal schools and improving educational facilities. Her role in the Women and Children Development Committee reflected her focus on social welfare, with emphasis on initiatives related to women’s empowerment and child welfare.

Alhat was also part of the Sports Committee, where she supported efforts to enhance sports infrastructure and promote youth participation across the city. Additionally, as a member of the Law Committee, she participated in deliberations on legal and regulatory matters affecting civic administration and municipal functioning.
Known for her accessibility and strong connect with citizens, Alhat maintained close engagement with residents of Mahmadwadi and the NIBM area, addressing local civic issues and raising ward-level concerns within the PMC. Her tenure coincided with a phase of accelerated development in Pune, making effective municipal governance a critical priority.

On the academic front, Prachi Alhat holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from St. Mira’s College, Pune. She completed her junior college education at Abasaheb Garware College of Science and her schooling at St. Patrick’s School, Pune. Her technical education has been viewed as an asset in understanding modern governance challenges, including the integration of technology into civic services.
Now, with her experience as a former corporator and committee member, Prachi Ashish Alhat is preparing to contest the upcoming Pune Municipal Corporation elections from Prabhag No. 41, Mahmadwadi–Undri. With a background rooted in youth leadership, administrative experience, and grassroots work, Alhat is positioning herself as a strong contender in the forthcoming civic polls.
