Pune: A shocking incident has come to the fore in which a huge quantity of medicines was thrown into the waters of Khadakwasla Dam, which quenches the thirst of lakhs of Pune residents.

As per information, security personnel deployed at the dam saw a large number of medicine boxes floating in the waters of the dam. As soon as the security personnel went to have a closer look at the medical waste, he discovered injections, and small medicine bottles, floating in it. Some boxes were thrown near the water while some medicine bottles were thrown directly into the water. The guard then informed the irrigation department officials who then alerted the local police.

Taking it to X, NCP MP Supriya Sule has tweeted “Expired medicines have been thrown into the water of Khadakwasla Dam. In this way, the people who pollute the water by throwing this hazardous waste into the water are playing with the lives of the citizens. Because the water of this dam is released for drinking by the citizens of Pune and surrounding areas. Strict action needs to be taken against those who dump such waste in the dam water. Commissioner of Police requests that you please personally look into the matter and take necessary action.”
