Farmer’s well water affected by traces of fuel leak in Mhatobachi Alandi

Months after fuel theft was reported in the village, a farmer from Mhatobachi Alandi expressed concerns to officials of the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) about fuel leakage in his farm well.

The farmer complained about the problem, stating that it had been happening for the previous three months and that fuel company representatives had also come to my farm several times. The leakage is still occurring, though. The fuel spilled during the theft and combined with the water in the well, causing losses for the farmer who could not carry on with his farming. During this time, he was unable to cultivate any crops on his roughly five acres of land.

An HPCL representative responded that the matter is connected to the theft that was previously reported when questioned about the company’s response to the issue at hand. After this was discovered, the leak was stopped. They are working hard to assist the impacted farmer in clearing it, but it’s possible that remnants of the fuel leak are still present. Officials have verified that there was not a fresh leak at this location.
