The final stretch of the Samruddhi Mahamarg from Igatpuri to Amane is set to open for traffic in a month. Construction is in its final stage, marking the completion of the ambitious Mumbai-Nagpur expressway.

The 76-km stretch ends at Amane, from where a connector road to Vadpe on the Nashik highway is under construction. Once this is completed, the last phase will be fully operational.

The most complex engineering challenge in this section was a 1.5-km-long bridge in Khardi, Thane. Additionally, the connector road from Amane to Vadpe faced delays due to land acquisition issues involving warehouses and continuous rainfall. However, with the monsoon over, MSRDC is rapidly completing the work. Officials have confirmed that this section will be ready by early March.

The first 520-km stretch from Nagpur to Shirdi was inaugurated in December 2022. The second phase, an 80-km road from Shirdi to Bharvir, was later opened. Last year, a 23-km segment from Bharvir to Igatpuri was also launched. Currently, vehicles can travel seamlessly from Nagpur to Igatpuri. With the new stretch, Mumbai-bound traffic can reach the city limits directly.

Vehicles from Amane will take a 4.8-km, four-lane connector to Vadpe before proceeding towards Mumbai. This road is part of the Mumbai-Vadodara Expressway, with 90% work completed. An overpass approach is currently under construction.

With this, the entire 701-km Samruddhi Expressway will be fully operational, significantly cutting Mumbai-Nagpur travel time.
