The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is embarking on an ambitious project to establish the first-ever Bio Diversity Park in Pune district, located in Talawade. The standing committee of the PCMC has greenlit the budget for the park’s development, marking a significant step forward in environmental conservation efforts. Spanning across 70 acres of picturesque land along the serene banks of the Indrayani River, this park is poised to become a sanctuary for both native and exotic flora and fauna.

With an initial allocation of ₹3 crore for the commencement of development work, slated to kick off next month, the total project is estimated to require around ₹95 crore. The phased allocation of budgets for various developmental activities within the park underscores the commitment to its comprehensive enhancement.

Once completed, the Bio Diversity Park will offer a multitude of attractions, including eight to ten distinct theme parks, catering to diverse interests. Additionally, visitors can expect a range of amenities such as an open amphitheatre, an interpretation center, a cafeteria, a children’s park, ample parking facilities, and restrooms, ensuring a comfortable and enriching experience for all.

Central to the park’s mission is its dedication to habitat restoration, emphasizing the reintroduction of native plant species and the establishment of a balanced ecosystem capable of self-sustainability. Through innovative approaches like rewilding, the park aims to foster biodiversity while promoting environmental harmony.

Moreover, to gain reviews from the public regarding the same, Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil has requested everyone to fill out a feedback form and write their suggestions for the construction of the park.

Moreover, workshops and campaigns will be conducted in the park, ranging from tree plantation campaigns to clean-up drives and many more.
