Gold Walls, Vintage Cars & a Gaushala: Inside the Mansion of a Govt Contractor That’s Sparked Outrage Online
A recent video tour of a lavish gold-coated mansion in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, has stirred controversy on social media. The video, originally shared by content creator, Priyam Saraswat, known for showcasing unique homes across India, reportedly showed a luxurious home where even walls, ceilings, taps, and switchboards were coated with 24-carat gold. The video featured homeowner Anoop Agarwal, a government contractor, and quickly became the subject of online debate before being deleted amid backlash.
The video showed Saraswat walking through the house, which belongs to Anoop Agarwal. The contractor reportedly builds roads, bridges, and large government projects. Before stepping inside, Saraswat showcased an extravagant car collection that included a 1936 vintage Mercedes, parked within the compound. Once inside, gold-covered rooms, ceilings, and even sockets were shown in detail.

“I can see a lot of gold,” Saraswat says in the video, to which Agarwal replies, “This is our original 24-carat gold.” Saraswat adds, “Even the sockets are made of gold,” while expressing shock at the level of luxury.
The house is reported to have ten bedrooms and also features a gaushala (cow shelter) within the premises. The couple claimed to live with their joint family and mentioned their growing business ventures, including the construction of a 300-room hotel.
In the same video, Anoop Agarwal spoke about his journey from humble beginnings. “We had just one petrol pump for a family of 25,” he recalls. “I realized survival will be tough… so I entered government contractorship. We make roads, bridges, and buildings for the government. We are making a 300-room hotel now. That’s my growth journey.”
Criticism and Political Reaction
Following the release of the video, social media users questioned the source of funds used to build the mansion. Many alleged that public funds meant for infrastructure may have been misused. In response to the outrage, Saraswat reportedly deleted the original video.
Despite its removal, the footage resurfaced when the official Twitter handle of Kerala Congress shared it with strong criticism. “Why are our highways collapsing and bridges falling into the river? Find the answers here,” read the post.
The party’s post added, “The government contractor from Indore has built a house where taps and switches are made of gold. He has ED-proofed himself by building a Gau Shala in his house. People who wanted ED to raid the pani puri wala who earned 40 lakhs by working hard wouldn’t want the ED to visit this gentleman’s house.”
