Maharashtra, April 15, 2026: The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions across 15 districts in Maharashtra, warning citizens to remain cautious as temperatures continue to rise across the state.
According to the IMD, a steady increase in temperatures has been observed over the past few days, with several regions expected to experience hot and uncomfortable weather conditions on April 16.
Konkan Region to Witness Humid Heat
In the Konkan belt, including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Palghar, and Sindhudurg, weather is expected to remain hot and humid.
Minimum temperatures may range between 26°C and 28°C, while maximum temperatures could reach 34°C to 36°C. High humidity levels are likely to intensify discomfort.
Western Maharashtra Braces for Intense Heat
Districts like Sangli and Solapur are expected to face scorching afternoon temperatures, with maximum temperatures soaring between 38°C and 41°C. Residents have been advised to avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours.
Severe Heatwave Likely in Marathwada
In the Marathwada region, including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, and Hingoli, temperatures are expected to rise sharply.
Minimum temperatures may range from 23°C to 25°C, while maximum temperatures could climb to 39°C to 42°C, indicating intense heatwave conditions.
Vidarbha to Record Highest Temperatures
Districts such as Akola, Amravati, and Wardha are likely to witness extreme heat, with maximum temperatures expected between 40°C and 43°C. Dry and hot winds will further aggravate the situation.
Rising Temperatures in North Maharashtra
In North Maharashtra, including Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Nashik, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 37°C and 40°C, with strong sunlight during the afternoon hours.
Advisory for Citizens
The IMD has urged residents across Maharashtra to take necessary precautions, including:
- Avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water
- Wear light and breathable clothing
Special care is advised for children, senior citizens, and farmers, who are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.
