Hoax Bomb Threats Hit Pune Flights, Triggers Security Scare
Four flights operating in the Pune sector faced hoax bomb threats on Tuesday, sparking a major security scare and disrupting air travel. The targeted flights included three Akasa Air services – Goa-Pune (QP1142), Delhi-Pune (QP 1608), and Pune-Kolkata (QP1563) – and one IndiGo flight, Pune-Dehradun (6E-403). This came after IndiGo’s Lucknow-Pune flight (6E-118) received a similar threat on Monday night.
IndiGo confirmed the incidents, stating that passengers were safely disembarked and standard procedures followed. “We worked closely with authorities and regret any inconvenience,” an IndiGo spokesperson said.
Akasa Air also activated its Emergency Response team and followed necessary procedures.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-4) Himmat Jadhav revealed that the threats originated from a social media profile named @elementaryschoolshooter. “All protocols, including isolation and thorough checks, were followed. Nothing suspicious was found,” Jadhav said while speaking to the media.
The investigation is ongoing, but authorities have yet to identify the perpetrator.
The incidents have raised concerns about aviation security and the ease with which malicious threats can disrupt air travel.
