India Makes e-Arrival Card Mandatory For Foreign Travellers From April 1
New Delhi, March 26, 2026: India will introduce a mandatory e-Arrival Card system for all foreign nationals entering the country starting April 1, 2026, as part of a move to digitize and streamline airport immigration processes.
The new system will replace the traditional paper disembarkation card, requiring travellers to submit their details online within 72 hours prior to arrival. Authorities said the initiative aims to reduce waiting times and improve efficiency at immigration counters across major airports.
Under the new rule, foreign nationals, including OCI cardholders, must fill out the form through official government platforms such as the visa website or designated mobile applications. Indian citizens, however, are exempt from this requirement.

After submission, travellers will receive a QR code, which must be presented at immigration either on a mobile device or as a printed copy. Officials have advised passengers to keep both digital and physical copies ready to avoid delays or additional checks.
The form requires key details including passport information, flight details, contact information, purpose of visit, and accommodation address in India. To simplify the process, families of up to five members can complete the form together.
Airport authorities, including those at major hubs like Kempegowda International Airport, have already issued advisories urging travellers to complete the process before departure.
Officials emphasized that failure to submit the e-Arrival Card in advance may lead to longer processing times at immigration.
The rollout of the digital system is part of India’s broader push to modernize airport operations and enhance the overall travel experience for international passengers.
