The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has collaborated with Swiggy to facilitate the delivery of pre-ordered meals booked by passengers through the corporation’s e-catering portal.

Initially launching services at Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam railway stations, the partnership aims to expand to more stations in subsequent phases.

The move follows IRCTC’s strategy of forging alliances to enhance services and provide diverse food options to railway passengers.

This collaboration comes after IRCTC’s previous partnership with Zomato for food supply at selected stations, such as New Delhi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow and Varanasi.

Swiggy’s entry into the railway catering space is expected to capitalize on the substantial passenger traffic in India, contributing to the food delivery application’s business growth.

Meanwhile, Swiggy is gearing up for its IPO launch, aiming for an $11 billion valuation target and an estimated ₹8,300 crore fundraising in 2024.
