Maharashtra On Alert Amid India-Pakistan Tensions; CM Reviews Emergency Preparedness With Key Directives
Mumbai, May 9 – In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today held a high-level review meeting at his official residence ‘Varsha’ in Mumbai, focusing on the state’s overall security and emergency preparedness. Senior officials from the Home, Health, Police, Administrative, and Municipal departments participated in the meeting.
The CM emphasized minimizing risks to civilian life and property in potential crisis scenarios and issued a series of important directives to ensure readiness across the state.

Key Directives Issued by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis:
Mock Drills and War Rooms:
Each district must organize mock drills to prepare for emergency situations and establish dedicated ‘War Rooms’ for coordinated response.
Blackout Preparedness:
Ensure essential services at hospitals remain uninterrupted during blackouts. Use blackout curtains or tinted glass to completely block external light.
Public Awareness Campaign:
Disseminate videos and information explaining what a blackout is and how citizens should respond. Launch a widespread awareness campaign, especially targeting students.
Union War Book & Training:
All officers should study the Central Government’s Union War Book in detail and be trained accordingly.
Cyber Surveillance & Action:
The police cyber cell must monitor social media actively. Take immediate action against any pro-Pakistan or anti-national posts.
Emergency Funds Allocation:
District Collectors will receive immediate funding for emergency expenses. Crucial proposals will be approved within one hour.
Involvement of Municipal Bodies & Societies:
Conduct meetings with all municipal corporations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) to raise awareness about blackout protocols. Housing societies must also be included in preparedness plans.
Enhanced Vigilance by Security Agencies:
Police to increase patrolling and intensify combing operations. Maintain strict surveillance on any anti-national activity.
Ban on Recording Military Movements:
Recording or sharing military movements on social media is a punishable offense. Strict legal action must be taken against violators.
Maritime Security Measures:
Strengthen coastal security by hiring fishing trawlers, if necessary.
Timely & Accurate Official Communication:
The state must establish an official media system to provide citizens with accurate, timely, and verified information.
Cyber Audit of Critical Infrastructure:
Conduct immediate cyber audits of vital services like electricity and water supply, considering the threat of cyberattacks.
Coordination Among Forces:
Include chiefs of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard stationed in Mumbai in upcoming meetings via video conferencing.
Cancellation of Leaves for Key Officers:
Leaves of senior officials, especially in Health, Disaster Management, and other critical departments, are hereby cancelled until further notice.
