Maharashtra | February 23:
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Maharashtra, warning of unstable conditions over the next 24 hours due to the formation of a low-pressure area. According to the department, scattered rainfall is likely in Marathwada, East Vidarbha, and parts of Central Maharashtra, while a Yellow Alert has been घोषित (issued) for Yavatmal, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli districts.
Konkan Region (Mumbai and Coastal Belt)
The Konkan region is expected to remain mostly dry and hot. Mumbai and the coastal belt may record maximum temperatures between 32°C and 34°C and minimum temperatures of 22°C to 24°C. High humidity levels will cause discomfort, though rainfall chances remain minimal. Light cloud cover may appear in the morning, followed by strong sunshine throughout the day. Farmers and fishermen have been advised to stay cautious due to heat stress conditions.
Pune Division (Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur)
Rainfall probability remains low across most districts. Pune and Solapur may witness temperatures rising to 34°C–37°C, with minimums around 18°C–21°C. Sangli and Kolhapur could see light morning cloudiness, but heat intensity is expected to increase post-afternoon. With unseasonal rain impact reducing, farmers have been advised to monitor crop conditions carefully.
North Maharashtra (Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon)
North Maharashtra will largely experience dry weather. Nashik may record 32°C–35°C, while Dhule and Jalgaon could touch 35°C–37°C. Minimum temperatures will range between 16°C and 20°C. Clear skies and strong sunlight are expected, prompting advisories for water management in agriculture.
Marathwada Region
After unseasonal rain on February 23, weather conditions are likely to turn mostly dry. Parbhani and Beed may receive light showers, but maximum temperatures across the region could rise to 35°C–38°C, with minimums between 18°C and 21°C. Heat and gusty winds may pose a risk to standing crops.
Vidarbha Region
Parts of East Vidarbha may witness light to moderate rainfall, while other areas remain dry to partly cloudy. Temperatures are expected to range between 36°C and 39°C (maximum) and 19°C to 22°C (minimum). There is also a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning, prompting farmers to remain alert.
Overall Advisory
IMD has warned that heatwave-like conditions are intensifying across Maharashtra, with a further rise in temperatures expected in the coming days. Citizens are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and follow official advisories. Farmers are urged to take precautionary measures to protect crops from heat stress and sudden weather changes.
