The cold wave continues to tighten its grip over several parts of Maharashtra, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for 11 districts, including regions in Marathwada, North Maharashtra and Vidarbha. As temperatures dip significantly, citizens are advised to brace for a chilly start to the week.
According to the IMD, six districts in Marathwada, four in North Maharashtra, and one in Vidarbha remain under cold wave alert. The sudden drop in minimum temperatures has intensified winter conditions across the state.
Mumbai Sees Steep Temperature Drop
Mumbai has also begun experiencing winter-like conditions, with the minimum temperature expected to fall to 16°C. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 31°C. Parts of the Konkan region are also reporting a noticeable dip in temperatures.
Pune Records Severe Cold Spell
Pune has officially stepped into peak winter mode. On November 17, the city is forecast to record a minimum temperature of 11°C, marking one of the season’s coldest mornings. Districts in Western Maharashtra are also witnessing a sharp increase in cold intensity.
North Maharashtra Under Yellow Alert
Four districts in North Maharashtra—Nandurbar, Dhule, Jalgaon and Nashik—are under a cold wave yellow alert.
Nashik: Minimum temperature around 8°C
Jalgaon: Minimum temperature around 9°C
Six Marathwada Districts on Alert
Out of eight districts in Marathwada, six are under alert. IMD has issued warnings for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Parbhani, Hingoli and Nanded.
Nanded: Minimum temperature 9°C
Sambhajinagar: Minimum temperature 10°C
Vidarbha Update
In Vidarbha, Gondia has received a yellow alert with the minimum temperature dipping to 9°C.
Nagpur: 11°C
Amravati: 12°C
With the cold wave likely to persist, residents across Maharashtra are advised to take necessary precautions as winter sets in firmly across the state.
