Maratha Quota Activist Manoj Jarange Leads Massive Rally In Pune
Activist Manoj Jarange led a massive gathering in Pune on Sunday, showing strong support for the Maratha reservation cause. Speaking in Katraj, Jarange highlighted that the turnout proves the unity of the Maratha community across Maharashtra, countering claims of division among regions like Marathwada, Vidarbha, Western Maharashtra, Mumbai, and Konkan.
Jarange emphasized that the protest for Maratha reservation will mark its one-year anniversary on August 29. He announced a meeting in Antarwali Sarati to decide on the possibility of contesting upcoming assembly elections. Jarange warned Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis that if the community’s demands are not met, they will ensure that no candidates from their parties win the elections.
Following the rally, Jarange was taken to Sahyadri Hospital after feeling dizzy. This was not the first incident, as he also experienced dizziness during a speech in Satara the previous day. Despite medical advice to rest, Jarange remained committed to the cause, declaring his willingness to sacrifice himself for the community’s future.
Jarange also called for the government to recognize Kunbi as a sub-caste of the Maratha community. He asserted that the Maratha vote is crucial in 113 assembly constituencies, predicting significant losses for the BJP in Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Mumbai.
Jarange plans to visit Mumbai for further protests if the demands are not addressed.
