A 120-foot-tall temple chariot toppled over at Anekal town near Bengaluru during the Huskur Madduramma temple’s annual chariot fair on Saturday. The structure, erected for a religious and cultural gathering, crumbled but narrowly avoided striking an electric pole and a group of devotees who swiftly moved out of harm’s way.

Thousands of devotees, hailing from more than 10 villages, were partaking in the traditional temple festivities when the collapse transpired. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

The incident was captured on video, which has since gone viral, depicting the tense moment of the chariot’s collapse. The footage reveals the adorned structure, drawn by bulls, giving way and narrowly missing a substantial electric pole, causing a stir among some nearby animals.

Devotees attempted to stabilize the chariot using ropes tied from all directions, but it lost balance and crashed to the ground. Spectators can be seen evacuating to safety in the video.

The chariot, constructed specifically for the Huskur Madduramma temple fair, serves as a focal point during the annual event. Every year, the festival attracts throngs of people to Anekal, drawn in by the spectacle of the chariots.
