Mumbai News: Thane to Get India’s First 11-Storey Railway Station with Mall, Offices, and Entertainment Hub
Thane: Thane is set to witness the development of India’s first 11-storey railway station, designed to enhance connectivity while integrating commercial and entertainment facilities.
The modern station will feature a mall, office spaces, retail shops, and a dedicated bus deck to improve passenger convenience.
The new station is being constructed near Platform 10A at Thane railway station and will span 9,000 square metres, with an additional 24,280 square metres allocated for lease over 60 years. The project is expected to be completed by June 30, 2026.
To facilitate seamless travel, the station will be well-connected to buses and the metro. A 2.24-kilometre elevated road will link it directly to the Eastern Expressway, improving accessibility for commuters. Additionally, a bus deck near Platform 10 will allow smooth train-to-bus transitions.
The station’s basement will feature parking facilities, while the first two floors will cater to railway services and transport amenities.
The upper floors will house shopping centres, food courts, restaurants, office spaces, hotels, service apartments, and coaching institutes.
Developed jointly by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) and Thane Municipal Corporation, this project is expected to boost railway connectivity and generate significant revenue, making Thane a key transport and commercial hub in Mumbai.
