Nashik, May 23, 2026: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Nashik City Police has filed the first chargesheet in the alleged sexual harassment, exploitation and religious conversion case linked to a business process outsourcing (BPO) unit associated with Tata Consultancy Services in Nashik.

According to police officials, the 1,500-page chargesheet was submitted before an additional sessions court in connection with a case registered at Deolali Camp Police Station. The chargesheet names four accused — Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Nida Khan and Matin Patel.

Police said the case includes charges under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including criminal conspiracy, rape, sexual harassment, cheating, hurting religious sentiments, abuse of authority and harbouring an accused. Provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have also been invoked.

Investigators have reportedly included digital evidence such as WhatsApp chats, email conversations and witness statements as part of the chargesheet. Statements of 17 witnesses were recorded before a Judicial Magistrate First Class under relevant legal provisions.

The investigation began after multiple women employees came forward alleging harassment and exploitation at the Nashik-based BPO unit. So far, nine FIRs have been registered at Deolali Camp and Mumbai Naka police stations.

Police have arrested eight individuals in the case, including Ashwini Chainani, Raza Memon, Safi Sheikh, Asif Ansari and Shahrukh Qureshi. Officials confirmed that all accused are currently in judicial custody.

According to investigators, AIMIM corporator Matin Patel allegedly provided shelter to Nida Khan at his residence in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar while she was absconding. Responding to the development, AIMIM national spokesperson Waris Pathan said the corporator would seek legal advice and contest the matter in court.

Following the controversy, National Commission for Women chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar directed TCS to establish Internal Committees under the PoSH Act at all its units with 10 or more employees within four weeks.

The commission reportedly raised concerns regarding the lack of local HR support, absence of proper grievance redressal mechanisms, non-functional CCTV systems and the unavailability of a dedicated Internal Committee at the Nashik office.

In response to the allegations, TCS stated that the company follows a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion. Officials also confirmed that employees allegedly involved in the matter had been suspended pending investigation.
