Nearly Half of Gen Z Professionals Plan to Leave Jobs in Two Years, Survey Finds
A recent survey by Unstop reveals that 47% of Gen Z professionals plan to leave their jobs within the next two years. The study, titled “Gen Z at Workplace,” surveyed over 5,350 Gen Z individuals and 500 HR professionals. It highlights that work-life balance is a major concern for this generation, with 47% prioritizing it when evaluating potential employers.
The survey also shows that 51% of Gen Z professionals fear job loss, and 40% worry about finding positions in their preferred fields. Despite these concerns, 77% of Gen Z respondents value the role or brand of a company over salary, with 43% seeking hands-on experience and growth opportunities. Job satisfaction is deemed more important than salary by 72% of Gen Z professionals.
The report uncovers a gap between Gen Z’s motivations and HR perceptions. While 78% of Gen Z switch jobs for career growth, 71% of HR professionals believe the main reason is higher pay. In reality, only 25% of Gen Z prioritize money when changing jobs.
Gen Z seeks a balance of career growth and company culture, with 44% of recruiters overestimating the importance of culture compared to career progression. Ankit Aggarwal, Founder and CEO of Unstop, emphasizes that for Gen Z, work must integrate seamlessly into their lives and offer room for both personal and professional development.
