Neeraj Chopra Claims Second Place At Lausanne Diamond League With Season-High Throw
On August 23, 2024, Neeraj Chopra achieved a season-best javelin throw of 89.49 meters at the Lausanne Diamond League, securing second place. This event marked his return to competitive athletics since winning a silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Chopra, 26, was narrowly beaten by Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who took the top spot with an impressive throw of 90.81 meters. German thrower Julian Weber rounded out the podium with a throw of 87.08 meters.
The top six athletes in the javelin standings for the season will advance to the final in Belgium, set for September 14. Chopra, who won the Diamond League title in 2022, finished second in 2023 behind Jakub Vadlejch.
