Unresolved disputes with the brand have led to quite a lot of mobile chains declaring that they will no longer be selling OnePlus smartphones as of 1st May.

A number of mobile retail chains have announced that they will be discontinuing sales for OnePlus smartphones beginning from 1st May 2024. This decision has come after multiple disputes went uncleared between the brand and the retailers. It is a jolt for OnePlus, a brand popular for its affordable premium quality smartphones and its faithful consumer base.

The Indian subcontinent is one of the biggest markets for the sale of OnePlus devices. Counterpoint recently pointed out that OnePlus grew by 33 percent YOY in 2023 and a key factor in its growth was availability in retail shops. The brand has assured that it is collaborating with other stakeholders to find solutions to the problems related to retail chains.

The company said that they appreciate all the subordination that their loyal retail partners have provided them with and that currently they are working towards the redressal of disputes so that their relationship with the retailers continues to grow into a more prosperous one.

The action taken by mobile shop chains stems from persistent disagreements and complaints that have not been settled between the retailers and OnePlus. The parties concerned have attempted to resolve these concerns but as of yet to no avail. This has led to an abrupt stop in their sales.

The president of South Indian Organised Retailers Association (ORA), Sridhar TS, explained how all through the past year they had faced considerable difficulties related to the sale of OnePlus devices and these issues remain unresolved. He added that as respectful collaborators they had hoped for a more successful partnership with the brand, yet unfortunately the unresolved disputes have offered them no alternative but to halt the sales of OnePlus devices in their shops.

One of the most pertinent problems listed by retailers is the absence of timely support and aid from OnePlus in the redressal of customer grievances and service-related complaints. As a result, both consumers and sellers are discontent with the brand, and in turn, it has affected the total sales and reputation of OnePlus products in the market.
