The Pune Municipal Corporation permits 2,598 hoardings in the city, but many are often located in the same building or on the street, increasing the threat level.

The administration encourages hoardings, despite strict rules being followed on paper. Sky sign observers are now required to submit photos of official hoardings and reports, exposing the constructions made by these observers, as they are required to comply with the 2022 state government rules.

Unfortunately, the action has cooled down as hoarding professionals oppose it. However, the hoardings pose a threat to citizens’ lives and hence the municipal administration held a meeting on Thursday (June 7) with officials from the sky sign department and regional office to discuss the situation and take essential action against hoardings.

The Pune Municipal Corporation permits 2,598 hoardings in the city, but many are often located in the same building or on the street, increasing the threat level.  Many rules have been violated, but no action has been taken. Commissioner Dr Rajendra Bhosale, Additional Commissioner Prithviraj BP, has taken action by requiring skygazers from 15 zonal offices to submit a written report after photographing each hoarding.

If any provisions of the 2022 Rules have been violated, sky sign observers will be suspended. Commissioner Bhosale also warned that if a dangerous hoarding falls and results in a loss of life, they will be dismissed from service.
