Online market will boost sale of products made by prisoners in Maharashtra

On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, an exhibition and sale of various products manufactured by the prisoners of Yerwada Central Jail. Amitabh Gupta, Inspector General of the Maharashtra Prisons department inaugurated the exhibition. The display of the products is available till January 26 at the Yerwada Central Jail, Yerwada.

Products such as tables, chairs, cupboards, uniforms, carpets, sarees, files, etc are put up on sale. These products are made by the prisoners.

The inaugural ceremony saw the presence of Western Division Deputy Inspector General Swati Sathe, Deputy Inspector General Sunil Dhamal, Yerwada Central Jail Superintendent Shivshankar Patil, Pune District Legal Services Authority Mangal Kashyap.

Gupta added, “The products made by the prisoners must also get an online marketplace so that it reaches to more people. Steps would be taken to introduce this medium soon.”
