A routine flight turned into a frustrating ordeal for dozens of travellers when IndiGo flight 6E-126 from Patna to Pune landed without a significant portion of its checked-in baggage. The aircraft, carrying around 180 passengers, touched down in Pune at approximately 4:50 pm on Monday—already running nearly 90 minutes behind schedule. However, the delay soon became a secondary concern when passengers gathered at the baggage belt and realized their luggage was nowhere to be seen.

What followed was confusion and anger, as more than 100 passengers discovered that their bags had not arrived with them. According to several flyers, they were later informed that between 70 and 100 pieces of luggage had been left behind in Patna.

Surya Pratap, one of the affected passengers, expressed his frustration on social media, posting, “Dear @IndiGo6E, flight delayed, luggage delayed. Me: landed at Pune, my bags: still enjoying Patna airport. Thanks @IndiGo6E for turning my trip into a scavenger hunt.”

Another traveller, Shekhar Roy, also took to X to voice his dissatisfaction. He wrote that over 100 bags were offloaded without any clear communication from the airline and alleged that no one was willing to take responsibility. In his post, he described the situation as mentally stressful, especially for passengers whose luggage contained medicines and important documents. He further called on authorities to take strict action, claiming that the airline’s service standards were declining.

One passenger even shared his PNR number publicly while seeking help online. He stated that despite being assured—both verbally and in writing—that the luggage would be delivered by 6 am the following day, the airline failed to fulfill the promise. He urged the airline to investigate the matter.

Speaking to The Times of India, passenger Anand Kumar Singh described chaotic scenes at Pune airport. He said that when travellers questioned the ground staff, they were told that the pilot had decided not to load all the luggage because the aircraft was full and Patna airport’s relatively short runway could not support a heavier take-off. Singh criticized the airline for what he called a serious communication gap and said he intends to file a police complaint over the incident. He termed the situation “deeply concerning,” adding that no one could clearly inform passengers when their belongings would reach them.

Many affected travellers claimed their bags contained expensive clothing, essential medicines, and crucial documents, amplifying their anxiety.

An IndiGo source later clarified that the baggage was offloaded due to “operational reasons.” The source added that the remaining luggage had been placed on the next available flight and would be delivered directly to passengers at their home addresses.
