The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has slapped a massive fine of Rs 70,500 on people who dumped waste near the Pavana riverbed in Pimple Gurav.

As per further information shared by PCMC Environment Engineering Department, vehicles such as trucks, tractors, dumpers, and tempos were dumping waste & debris on the Pavana riverbed every day from Pimple Gurav areas like Morya Park, Krishnaraj Colony, Amrita Colony, Bhaunagar, Mukaangan Lawns, Deokar Park, Shivneri Colony etc.

A complaint was received by the PCMC Environment Engineering Department. After that, the Environment Engineering Department conducted a direct inspection and took action against the drivers of vehicles that were being used to dump waste & debris.

The PCMC has confiscated eight vehicles, namely four trucks of Nitin Darshile, one tractor of Damodar Talmatti, one tempo of Nagnath Manjule, one tempo of Lakaappa Pujari & one tractor of Rathod, which were dumping waste & debris near the Pavana riverbed.

A total fine of Rs 70,500 has been taken from these vehicle owners. This action has been taken under the guidance of Sanjay Kulkarni, Joint City Engineer (Environment) of PCMC Environmental Engineering Department, Health Inspector Amol Gorkhe, Multipurpose Worker Gorakshnath Karpe & the PCMC Environment Engineering Department team.

The unlawful dumping of waste and debris on riverbeds has been the subject of numerous complaints to authorities from environmentalists and city residents who live next to rivers.
