In a recent interview with the coordinator of Rotary Club Of Walhekarwadi, Ganesh Bora it was revealed that they have been working on Pawna River pollution since the year 2017. Different measures have been taken to stop sewage canals passing by the river from contaminating the river water which are being done either by themselves or through the means of volunteering and Pimpri Chinchwad Mahanagarpalika (PCMC).

Likewise, there was sewage coming from Akurdi passing through the river near Walhekarwadi, the water lines of the sewage were damaged and broken contributing to making the river water dirty. For 4 years they have been working on this. From identifying the spots of leakage to informing the PCMC drainage team and getting the leakages fixed. Moreover, awareness was also spread amongst people to not dispose of waste in the river water. It is a 2 km stretch.

In addition, to stop the garbage from getting into the water, a net was fixed absorbing all the garbage. The PCMC then suggested to fix an automated net, it requires no manpower, as the net itself removes the garbage and throws it away.

Moreover, measures will be taken now to make sure that people do not contaminate the water. During monsoon, extra measures will be taken to make sure that there are no leakages.

This initiative Rotary Club Of Walhekarwadi with Founder President Pradeep Walhekar, President Sudhir Maral, and Cordinator Ganesh Bora alongside PCMC Officer Mahadev Shinde Shankar Ghate will soon make all rivers in PCMC leakage and garbage-free.
