Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Satara soon for an event, prompting Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to appeal to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to consider inaugurating the new Pune Airport Terminal and four metro stations on February 19th during his visit.

“We are endeavoring to have the new Pune Airport Terminal and four metro stations inaugurated on the day of his Satara visit as the Terminal Building nears completion,” Pawar remarked, suggesting the possibility of a virtual inauguration by the Prime Minister remotely.

The acquisition of additional Defence Land was initially met with a demand for 7 crore by the Defence Ministry. However, after intervention from the PMO, the land was eventually provided at no cost.

The introduction of the new terminal is expected to alleviate congestion as passengers will have direct access to aircraft without the need for buses.

The new terminal’s launch will significantly augment passenger capacity, enabling the airport to accommodate up to 1.2 crore people annually.

Maha Metro has confirmed the readiness of the section connecting Ruby Hall and Ramwadi, passing through Bund Garden and Kalyani Nagar, which comprises four stations and promises to alleviate traffic congestion.

With two significant projects nearing completion in Pune City, improvements in key areas of the city are anticipated.
