Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Vikram Kumar has warned that Deputy Engineers, Junior Engineers of the Construction Department should take action against all illegal rooftop hotels in Pune and submit the information within 15 days otherwise the authorities will face strict action.

This move comes after many complaints were coming to the administration as the hotels in such areas are causing a lot of trouble to the citizens living nearby.

As per information, Vikram Kumar held a meeting with the construction department. Rooftop hotels have started building in the suburbs along with the central part of the city. These hotels are open till late night. The songs played there, the noise of the customers, their cars are disturbing the residents of the area. Even though the hotel is running without any permission from the Municipal Corporation, they are running unhindered.

Pune Pulse tried to contact relevant officials of the PMC Building Department but couldn’t connect while reporting.

Actions are often avoided due to political influence on many hotels. However, as many complaints came directly to the Commissioner, a meeting was held in this regard on 22nd August (Tuesday). The issue of side margin of buildings, front margin, and hotel on rooftop terrace was raised in it.

These hotels are not only a threat to the lives of the citizens, but the citizens living in this area are also suffering because of it. For this, the information of the rooftop hotels for which action has been taken should be submitted within 15 days. Otherwise, the concerned Deputy Engineers, Junior Engineers will be held responsible for this, said PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar.
