Pune: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced that it will soon set up 150 charging stations at 82 locations throughout the city, as part of an effort to promote electric vehicle usage. The move comes after the corporation successfully installed two charging stations in the main building.

The standing committee has given its approval, and the work order will be issued within the next two to four days. PMC has appointed the Marine Electrical agency to carry out the project, and they are working to set up the stations as quickly as possible.

According to Shrinivas Kandul, Head of Electricity Department, PMC “We are delighted to announce the installation of 150 new charging stations across the city. This is a major step forward in our efforts to encourage the use of electric vehicles, and we hope it will encourage more people to switch to cleaner, greener modes of transport.”

While there are some private charging systems already in place, their data is not available to the public. The new charging stations will provide a much-needed boost to the city’s infrastructure and help make electric vehicles a more viable option for residents and visitors alike.
