In response to the recent bust of an adult film-making racket in a bungalow near Lonavala, Pune Rural police have launched a comprehensive investigation targeting over 7,000 bungalows, farmhouses, and resorts rented out as guest houses in the Lonavala-Khandala hill station areas.

The police have initiated steps to gather information about the visitors to these rental properties, aiming to curb illegal activities and ensure the proper use of these recreational facilities. Notices have been issued to the owners of known rental bungalows, and details are being sought from the local municipal council regarding the properties in question.

As part of the investigation, the police are obtaining property tax bills issued by the council to identify owners and managers of the rental properties. Additionally, information is being collected from various gram panchayats near Lonavala, Khandala, and Malavli.

To further bolster their efforts, the police plan to reach out to online portals that list rental properties, compelling them to disclose booking details to aid in the investigation process. Resort owners and managers are also being urged to ensure that their premises are not utilized for illegal activities.

Reports of bungalows and homestay facilities registered as residential properties will be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for further action, emphasizing the police’s commitment to upholding the law and maintaining public safety.

The crackdown follows the arrest of 13 individuals involved in the filming and streaming of objectionable adult content, underscoring the need for vigilant enforcement measures to address illicit activities in the region.
