Pune: In a shocking incident, Abhinav Education Society’s College of Engineering and Technology in Vadwadi, near Bhor, Pune, has been seized by the Bank of Baroda due to unpaid dues of ₹32 crore. Following a court order, the bank has taken control of the college premises, including the 14-hectare campus, hostels, and other facilities. This move has left around 800 hostel students stranded and over 1,650 students’ education in jeopardy.

The eviction of students from the hostel and the seizure of all assets have created a significant uproar among parents and students. The college, which has been operational since 2009, offers six diploma and five degree engineering branches, along with an English medium school on the campus. This sudden action has also impacted 250 students of the school.

The engineering students, some of whom were preparing for exams scheduled from January 17, were seen leaving the premises in tears. Many come from rural parts of Maharashtra and are now uncertain about their academic future.

The seized property includes a 4.19 lakh square feet building and equipment valued at around ₹100 crore. The total value of the land and infrastructure is estimated to be ₹132 crore. The incident has raised concerns about the students’ educational continuity and sparked protests from parents, who are demanding urgent intervention to resolve the issue.
