Chintamani Trust has decided to close the VIP darshan facility at Theur (District Pune), which is amongst the prestigious Ashtavinayaka mandirs.Ā

A devotee from Nashik, had issued a legal notice regarding the VIP darshan. The Trust then held an emergency meeting and decided to stop the VIP Darshan facility.

Chintamani Trust’s lawyer has given a letter to the devoteeā€™s lawyer in this regard.

Paid darshan is offered at many places in the state from Trimbakeshwar, Vani, Shirdi. This action is against the principle of equality of the Constitution. So, these shrines should also rethink about paid darshan, the devotee said.

Former sarpanch, a member of Nirbhay Foundation in Nashik, went for Ashtavinayak darshan on the occasion of New Year on January 1. He saw the board of paid darshan i.e. VIP darshan for one hundred rupees in the temple. The former sarpanch objected to it. Hence, a notice was issued to the Trust through his lawyer.

The notice stated that discrimination on the basis of money is inconsistent with the Constitution. Every devotee must be treated equally in the temple.
