Pune, December 17: Pune continues to reel under an extended cold wave, with the city recording single-digit minimum temperatures for the eighth consecutive day, according to the latest data from meteorological authorities. Several parts of Pune district, including both urban and rural areas, have reported minimum temperatures below 10°C, making it one of the longest cold spells witnessed in recent years.

Weather experts attribute the persistent chill to clear skies and calm wind conditions. The absence of cloud cover has led to increased radiational cooling, allowing heat to escape rapidly after sunset and pushing night temperatures consistently lower.

In contrast, daytime temperatures have remained comfortable, creating a sharp difference between warm afternoons and chilly mornings across the city.

Senior citizens, children, and people suffering from respiratory ailments are among the most impacted due to the sustained drop in temperatures.
