Pune Education Department Closes 13 Unauthorized Schools, Files Cases Against 10
Pune Education Department shuts down unauthorized Schools, initiates legal action
In a significant move, the Pune Education Department has cracked down on unauthorized schools in the region. A total of 49 schools were found operating without proper authorization. Out of these, 13 have been shut down and criminal cases have been filed against 10 of them as reported by Sakal. Additionally, proceedings are underway to initiate legal action against 12 more schools, according to Zilla Parishad Primary Education Officer Sanjay Naikede.
The list of unauthorized schools published by the Pune Zilla Parishad included 49 institutions across rural areas, as well as within the jurisdictions of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and Pune Municipal Corporation. Following the release of this list, the education department intensified its efforts against these schools, acting on directives from the Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad, Santosh Patil. After publishing the list of unauthorized schools, now the education department has raised the bar of action.
Among the 49 unauthorized schools, 13 have been closed. Five schools have since been approved, and three have received letters of intent from the government. Four schools have filed petitions in court, and 12 schools have paid fines. Legal proceedings are ongoing against the remaining 12 schools.

- Orchid International School, Chinchwad Link Road
- Ideal English Medium School, Pimple Gurav
- Peep Tree Education Trust Gandhinagar, Pimple Nilakh
- Taqwa Islamic School, Kondhwa Khurd, run by Taqwa Education Trust.
