Following rising vehicle thefts in Pune, the Hadapsar police arrested a suspect and seized 24 stolen vehicles. Acting on directives from Pune’s Police Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 5, R Raja, Senior Inspector Santosh Pandey led an investigation to address the surge in vehicle thefts.

Assistant Police Inspector Arjun Kudale and his team, including Police Sub-Inspector Mahesh Kawle and constables Deepak Kamble, Chandrakant Rejitwad, Ajit Madane, and Kundlik Keskar, were conducting anti-theft patrols in the area when they apprehended Deepak alias Jojo Baburao Sarawade. Upon investigation, Sarawade was found to be involved in multiple thefts of two-wheelers from areas like Manjari, Mundhwa, Loni Kalbhor, and Lonikand.

Sarawade, who had evaded capture for months, was arrested under Section 379 of the IPC and remanded in police custody. So far, the police have recovered 24 stolen vehicles, valued at ₹12.5 lakh, from Pune, Dharashiv, and Latur.
