With numerous airports in the country opting for green power energy, Pune Airport is also following the same path.

Speaking about the same, Srinivas Rao, Jt GM, Electric Department, Pune Airport said, “Pune airport is running on green power. It is a renewable source of energy and MSEDCL is the power supplier. There was an offer from the Maharashtra government in this regard according to which we have to pay certain extra cost and get the power supply through renewable energy. Our airport is now a green power airport completely.”

Pune airport is expected to get a new terminal building in 2023 and airport authorities plan to turn the new building into a green power building.
“To turn the new terminal building into green power, it will take some time. Once we obtain a connection from MSEDCL we will go for the same model which we have in the old building,” added Rao.

“We are opting for Green power because it is in support of central government schemes for reducing carbon footprints,” added Rao.
