Pune lawyers object to ‘Civil Court’ metro station name; demand name change

Pune: Several lawyers in Pune have objected to the decision of giving the name ‘Civil Court’ to the Civil Court Metro Station in Pune. Instead, they have asked to rename it to Pune District Office Metro Station or District Court Pune Metro Station.
As per information shared by Sagar Newase, Maharashtra President, Jana Adalat Organization, under Maharashtra Metro, “ There is an office of Pune Metro near the District Court in Pune. The Metro station is named ‘Civil Court’. The District Court in Pune is the identity of Pune. This name is incorrect and we demand that the name of the Metro station should be changed immediately to either ‘Pune District Office Metro Station’ or ‘District Court Pune Metro Station.’ We have submitted a request to the Managing Director of Maha Metro Shravan Hardikar on behalf of the Jana Adalat Organisation.”
He also added that new litigants think that civil court is a metro area and they are mistakenly going to the metro area for civil work. He also demanded that the change of name should be implemented immediately without any delay.
As per information, Hardikar has assured the delegation that after hearing all the information, proper follow-up will be done and immediate steps will be taken in this matter.
