Pune Municipal Corporation to construct flyover, grade separators at 21 places

Pune: To solve the traffic problem within the limits of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), it has been decided to build flyovers, subways, grade separators, river and railway bridges at as many as 21 places in the city to decongest the roads.

Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar informed that consultants will be appointed soon and after the consultant’s report, the process for the related works will be started.

In this regard, the Municipal Corporation has already planned a double flyover on the metro line near Savitribai Phule Pune University and a subway on Ganesh Khind Road. Public-private-partnership has been approved for the construction of some bridges and subways.

In this regard, Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar said, “Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had announced a fund of ₹2,000 crores. Accordingly, a preliminary study has been done at the municipal level to reduce traffic congestion. Along with the ongoing works, it is proposed to construct flyovers, river and railway bridges, subways at 21 places. The process of appointing a consultant will be started.”
