Pune News : Bhimthadi Jatra 2023 to take place from December 21 to 24

From December 21 to 24, 2023, the Agricultural College Ground in Shivajinagar (Sinchannagar), Pune, will host the Bhimthadi Jatra, an event that aims to empower women self-help groups. The Agricultural Development Trust Baramati, Bhimthadi Foundation, and Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth Rahuri are among the supporters of this initiative.

Bhimthadi Jatra is an annual event that transforms the Agricultural College Ground in Shivaji Nagar into a lively destination for more than 400,000 visitors from Pune, Mumbai, and nearby cities. The highlight of the festival is a bustling flea market with over 400 stalls offering a wide range of handcrafted goods, artisanal products, textiles, and traditional handicrafts.

Visitors can explore the vibrant marketplace and indulge in the delectable rural cuisine and local street food from different regions of Maharashtra. The assortment of culinary delights highlights the region’s abundant and varied flavors. Bhimthadi Jatra goes beyond being a mere event; it serves as a platform for empowering women to exhibit their expertise in handicrafts, textiles, and food preparation, thereby making significant contributions to their communities. This celebration of talent and tradition places women at the forefront of preserving and promoting cultural heritage.

Sunanda Pawar’s brainchild, Bhimthadi Jatra, is now in its 17th edition and still going strong. The event is designed to provide self-help groups with a platform to sell their wares, and this year’s carnival features an impressive 310 stalls. With such a wide variety of offerings, attendees are sure to have a lively and rewarding experience.

This year’s Bhimthadi Jatra showcases a diverse selection of handcrafted items, jewelry, textiles, decorative pieces, as well as an extensive assortment of spices and culinary delights.
