‘Poona Guest House’ on Laxmi Road, a haven that has been working tirelessly in providing authentic Marathi delicacies for the last nine decades, has now got the honour of being featured on a postage stamp.

This is the first time that an institution in the hospitality sector has received such an honour. A postage letter with a picture & stamp of Poona Guest House was unveiled on Thursday (7th December) at the PUNEPEX 2023 exhibition organized at Balgandharva Art Gallery.

As per further information, Poona Guest House Director Kishor Sarpotdar, Abhay Sarpotdar, Sadhana Sarpotdar and Sharmila Sarpotdar were present. Poona Guest House was founded in 1935 by Nanasaheb Sarpotdar, actor, writer & filmmaker of the silent era of cinema. Now, the fourth generation of the Sarpotdar family is running Poona Guest House.

Gratefully appreciating the initiative of the Postal Department, Kishor Sarpotdar said that the valuable cooperation of the International Collectors’ Society of Rare Items, Pune has been availed in this work. By releasing the photo of Poona Guest House on the postal envelope, they will be recognized in the nook and cranny of the country and on the back of the world.
