Pune, June 2, 2024 – The Hadapsar area of Pune has recently witnessed a surge in gang-related activities, causing significant alarm among residents. The infamous Koyta gang has been at the center of this unrest, with their latest act of vandalism leading to the arrest of five individuals.

The incident occurred around 6 PM on May 31, near the Bank of Maharashtra in Bhekrainagar, where members of the Koyta gang were involved in damaging vehicles and creating chaos. The trouble started when a shopkeeper confronted a group of youths loitering in front of his shop, asking them to leave. Angered by this, the gang members, including three minors, retaliated violently.

The gang attacked the Shambhu Formance shop in Bhekrainagar, smashing its windows with wooden sticks and sharp iron weapons. They didn’t stop there, as they also damaged a bus passing by and vandalized seven to eight vehicles in the Dhamalwadi area, creating an atmosphere of fear among the locals.

A complaint was promptly filed at the Hadapsar police station, and the police launched an investigation. Using technical analysis and information from local sources, the police were able to identify and arrest the culprits. When presented in court, the accused were remanded to police custody.

This incident is part of a worrying trend of increased gang activities in Pune, specifically involving the Koyta gang. The Hadapsar police, however, are actively working to curb this menace and ensure the safety and security of the citizens.
