To address the escalating traffic congestion and rising number of accidents in key areas of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC), local authorities have enforced stringent measures.

The PCPC holds jurisdiction over several affected zones, encompassing industrial hubs like Chakan, Bhosari, Talegaon, and IT Park areas such as Hinjawadi, Talawade, and Chikahli. Moreover, the PCPC also supervises the Dehu and Alandi regions, which boast cultural significance.

The Pimpri Market has emerged as the largest market in the vicinity, fostering rapid urban development and expansion. The influx of residents from various parts of the state and country, who have chosen to settle in the Commissionerate for employment, has contributed to the vibrant ambience. These residents frequently opt for luxury travel buses for their trips to their hometowns, thereby exacerbating the traffic predicament.

Luxury buses operating from Nigdi, Talawade, and Bhosari within the commissionerate limits have been identified as significant contributors to traffic congestion. Stops at Pavle Bridge, Khandoba Mal, Chinchwad, Bijli Nagar, Chintamani Chowk, Ahimsa Chowk, Chaphekar Chowk, Thergaon, Birla Hospital, Dange Chowk, and Kalewadi have been perpetuating a steady rise in traffic jams and accidents. In response to this issue, authorities have prohibited these luxury buses from picking up passengers within the commissionerate limits after departing from their origin points.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Branch has assigned specific pick-up and drop points to regulate traffic flow. Luxury buses are mandated to utilize designated points such as Bhakti Shakti Circle in Nigdi, Tower Line in Talawade, Rupinagar’s Gavjatra Maidan, and Bhosari’s Babar Petrol Pump and Landewadi. Any infringement of these regulations by bus drivers, owners, or booking agents will lead to stringent action, including penalties.
