Pune News: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Additional Commissioner Issues Safety Improvement Guidelines For Schools
Out of the 128 municipal schools, 115 have conducted safety audits with the assistance of the School Management Committees. Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil has instructed the concerned officials to analyze these audits, create an action plan for implementing measures, and complete essential tasks related to construction, electrical work, water supply, fire safety, and information technology as soon as possible.
The municipal corporation organizes National Safety Week every year across all municipal schools. As part of this initiative, safety audits and child safety programs are being implemented in these schools. Analyzing the results of these audits and programs, an important meeting was held today at the late Mayor Madhukar Pawle Hall in Pimpri under the chairmanship of Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil. During the meeting, he provided various instructions to the concerned officials.
Present at the meeting were Chief Information and Technology Officer Nilkanth Poman, Assistant City Engineer Gyanadev Jundhare, Sanjay Khabade, Babasaheb Galble, Deputy Commissioner Manoj Lonkar, Assistant Commissioner Vijaykumar Thorat, Administrative Officer Sangeeta Bangar, Assistant Medical Officer Dr. Kishori Nalawade, Executive Engineer Nitin Deshmukh, Dilip Dhumal, Vijay Waiker, Sameer Dalvi, Nitin Nimbalkar, Anushree Kumbhar, Vasudev Mandre, Manik Chavan, Mahesh Kawale, Satish Waghmare, Shivraj Wadkar, Rajendra Shinde, Devanna Gattuwar, Anil Shinde, Prakash Katore, and Fire Safety Officer Rishikant Chipade, along with staff from various departments.
In the meeting, Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil issued several instructions to the department heads and officials. These included repairing non-functioning CCTV cameras and installing new ones in blind spots, conducting medical camps to raise awareness about various diseases among students, installing emergency contact information boards for fire safety and medical emergencies in school premises, providing first aid kits where they are lacking, replacing broken electrical switchboards, checking fire safety audit certificates, addressing cyber security issues, promptly completing essential construction work, and increasing parent participation and awareness in student safety through regular parent meetings.
Additionally, the government organizes National Safety Week every year. The safety audits conducted in municipal schools cover various topics, including physical security, fire safety, earthquake and disaster management, electrical safety, safety from construction hazards, sports facilities and related safety, laboratory and accident safety, transportation management, social, emotional, and personal safety, trauma management, safety for disabled students, health safety, mid-day meals, cleanliness, protection against child sexual abuse, and cyber security. Schools were given questionnaires based on these topics, and action plans are being developed and implemented based on the responses.
