A Shivshahi bus traveling on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway caught fire near the Talegaon toll plaza on Saturday morning, causing temporary disruption to traffic on the Mumbai-bound lane. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. when the bus, carrying 12 passengers, suddenly caught fire, leading to panic among commuters.

Thanks to the quick thinking and alertness of the bus driver, all passengers were safely evacuated before the flames engulfed the vehicle. The driver promptly pulled the bus to the side of the expressway and instructed passengers to exit immediately. Within moments, the fire spread rapidly, reducing the bus to a charred shell. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.

Emergency services, including a fire brigade team from IRB, arrived swiftly at the scene and brought the fire under control. The incident led to significant traffic delays, with long queues forming on the busy expressway. However, normal traffic resumed shortly after the fire was extinguished.

This is not the first time such an incident has occurred on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway. Authorities have urged regular vehicle maintenance to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
