On Thursday, Congress leader Aba Bagul demanded a 50% portion of the money that Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) made from the city’s commercial properties.

Maha-Metro intends to rent out the numerous commercial spaces it has established at its parking lots and stations in order to make money other than from ticket sales.

Bagul claimed in a letter to the municipal commissioner on Thursday that since Maha-Metro received land from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), it was entitled to 50% of the income from the commercial properties as well.

He said that if Maha-Metro received lands at no cost, it has to split the revenue with PMC.

The Congress leader has claimed that although the PMC standing committee and general body had previously approved a resolution to share revenue with PMC, attempts are being made to disregard the civic administration’s decision because there are no elected members.

If the municipal commissioner does not take action to guarantee Maha-Metro shares revenue from non-fare sources on property with PMC, Bagul stated he will take the matter to court.
