To mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, Pune hosted “Pune on Pedals,” a massive cycle rally promoting a health-conscious and environment-friendly lifestyle. The rally, initiated by Medha Kulkarni, witnessed an overwhelming participation of over 2,500 cyclists.

The rally commenced at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue and concluded at Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj Statue, Deccan Gymkhana in Kothrud. Rajya Sabha MP Prof. Dr. Raksha Khadse inaugurated the event by flagging off the rally.

Prominent figures, including Skydaver Padmashri Sheetal Mahajan, Indian cricketer Rahul Tripathi, and former corporator Jayant Bhave, graced the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Raksha Khadse emphasized the benefits of cycling for physical and mental well-being, as well as environmental conservation.

“Cycling is essential for staying fit and healthy, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Fit India’ initiative,” Khadse said. “We’re spreading awareness about sports among children through various activities and programs.” Khadse praised Medha Kulkarni’s initiative, saying, “I’m energized by Punekars’ enthusiasm for cycling.”

This cycle rally, in its fifth consecutive year, aims to encourage bicycle usage. Pune, known as the “city of bicycles,” witnessed participants chanting “Cycle Chalawa” to promote physical health and environmental protection.

To support underprivileged children, free bicycles were distributed during the event. All participants received medals, certificates, and T-shirts. Sheetal Mahajan and Rahul Tripathi encouraged cyclists, urging them to continue promoting a healthy lifestyle.

MP Medha Kulkarni expressed gratitude towards participants and dignitaries, saying, “This initiative’s success is a testament to Pune’s commitment to health and sustainability.”
